Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Do I have to book the activity in advance?

We accept “last minute” bookings. However, we strongly advise reserving your tandem flight as far in advance as possible (especially during high season, as we are frequently fully booked), by following the instructions on the Contact page.

What are your daily hours of operation?

We offer paragliding flights 365 days a year, from 08:30 AM to 17:00 PM. Times may vary slightly depending on the high and low seasons. Contact us to inquire about our available time slots on any given day.

How long does the whole activity last?

The total duration of the activity, from the initial meeting to the time of landing, is approximately 1 hour and a half.

Do you offer a pick-up service?

No, unfortunately we do not offer a pick-up service. You must reach the meeting point independently (by car, train, or taxi).

From which mountains do you fly?

Our paragliding flights are conducted daily at Monte Tamaro and, on two specific days of each month, also at Cimetta. These two days are determined by the end of each month for the following month. Upon request, at our discretion, we also fly from Monte Lema.

How do I get to the meeting point of Monte Tamaro?

From Lugano you can reach Monte Tamaro by car (20 min) or by train (15 min). There is a direct train that leaves every 30 min from the Lugano main station. You have to get off at the Rivera-Bironico station and from there it is a short 5 min walk. You can check the train timetables on www.sbb.ch.

Is the passenger insured during the flight?

Yes, all FlyTicino paragliding flights are carried out with the highest and most comprehensive all-risks insurance available in Switzerland, valid for passengers of all nationalities. The cost is CHF 10 per person.

Do I risk taking bumps on landing?

At FlyTicino, we use a special landing technique: the passenger remains seated, lifts his legs, and glides on an airbag while the pilot runs for him (click here for a video). Thanks to this procedure, the landing, most of the time, is exceptionally soft and is also suitable for elderly people or those with leg problems.

Is paragliding suitable for people with vertigo?

Yes, absolutely! Vertigo is caused by a lack of orientation in balance, which can only be perceived at ground level, while staying put. When paragliding, there is no contact between the body and the ground, so vertigo cannot be experienced.

Are there any physical requirements for paragliding?

Paragliding is a simple and enjoyable pastime that is suitable for all ages, including children and the elderly. It does not require special physical abilities, but the passenger must be able to do a quick run for around 10 meters (≈ 30 feet) during takeoff. If the passenger is unable to run or has deambulatory issues, we advise not to go paragliding. We also advise women who are over the fourth month of pregnancy to avoid this activity.

Is paragliding dangerous?

No, nowadays paragliding is considered a safe sport. Thanks to the precision of modern weather forecasts and to the high-quality of the materials used on the newest equipments, a paragliding flight is as safe as a bicycle ride.
