Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to book the activity in advance?

Yes, it is mandatory to book the activity in advance (the sooner the better), following the instructions on the Contact page.

What are your daily hours of operation?

We offer paragliding flights 365 days a year, from 08:30 AM to 04:30 PM. Times may vary slightly depending on high and low season. Contact us to inquire about our available time slots on a given day.

How long does the activity last?

The total duration of the activity, from the initial meeting to the time of landing, is approximately 2 hours.

Do you offer a pick-up service?

No, unfortunately you must reach the meeting point independently (by car or by train).

How do I get to the meeting point of Monte Tamaro?

From Lugano you can reach Monte Tamaro by car (20 min) or by train (15 min). There is a direct train that leaves every 30 min from the Lugano main station. You have to get off at the Rivera-Bironico station and from there it is a short 5 min walk. You can check the train timetables on www.sbb.ch.

How should I dress for the paragliding flight?

We advise you to wear sports shoes, a sweatshirt and a light windbreaker. We also recommend wearing sunglasses, to protect the eyes from the wind.

Can I bring my personal belongings with me during the flight?

Yes, during the flight you can store a small backpack behind the pilot’s harness.

Is the passenger insured during the flight?

Yes, all FlyTicino paragliding flights are carried out with the highest and most comprehensive all-risks insurance available in Switzerland, valid for passengers of all nationalities. The cost is CHF 10 per person.

Can I bring my own GoPro or camera along?

Since the shooting of professional photos and videos is a service offered by FlyTicino pilots (and it is part of their remuneration), we believe that it would not be fair to “bypass” it by using personal equipment. Because of that, the use of the own GoPro or camera is allowed only to those who purchase the “Photo & Video” service in any case.

Is paragliding suitable for people with vertigo?

Yes, absolutely! Vertigo is caused by a lack of orientation in balance, which can only be perceived at ground level, while staying put. When paragliding, there is no contact between the body and the ground, so vertigo cannot be experienced.

Is paragliding dangerous?

No, nowadays paragliding is considered a safe sport. Thanks to the precision of modern weather forecasts and to the high-quality of the materials used on the newest equipments, a paragliding flight is as safe as a bicycle ride.
